Iron Craft: Week 2

Hooray- better late than never! This week's Iron Craft challenge was to make a 'door snake' or 'draft dodger' ...our house is so cold and we only have one door! So I decided to make a different kind of snake for my best friend's new baby boy. I had some sweater pieces leftover from a blanket I made for my son (awesome blog post here). I'm so glad I kept those few extra pieces. It's a little funny looking the way it's snout scoops up, but can we just say that it adds character, ok? Here are a few pics, beginning, middle, and end. Cheers, crafters!

Next week's challenge is bunting. Yay!!

All About Giraffes

I dig giraffes. They're sweet and lanky and I think images of them are just the cutest. I made one for my son's first birthday party invite and made a stuffed animal one for the top of his present. He likes to chew on his head… ah, the joys of a one year old.

I've also included a mini-giraffe round-up. What kind of blogger would I be without a giraffe round-up? Seriously.

1. Large format giraffe painting by TreeTop Murals.

2. Supertryer T-Shirt from awesome kid place, Moomah.

3. Giraffe boy card from I'm Smitten.

4. Giraffe print from Creative Thursday.

5. Giraffe pendant necklace from peppersprout

Today was brought to you by the letter 'A'

I spent the better part of this morning making this little stuffed letter (it's about 12 inches tall) for birthday girl, Amelia. I had the fabric (flowers on the front and light pale green on the back) and have been dying to start a series of alphabet letters. My sewing machine is still on loan, so I sewed this by hand with some white embroidery thread. It's not perfect by any means, but I'm quite happy with how my first letter turned out. I hope Amelia loves it!
