JetKat Photo Workshop

I am so excited to announce my new workshop! It will be February 21, 2015 from 2-5PM at Stable Café in San Francisco. I will be offering a more in-depth look at photographing your kids so that you can begin taking photos you'll treasure forever!

Spend the afternoon with me and you’ll learn how to take your camera off the automatic setting. We’ll cover lighting, composition, and getting those photos off your camera. There will be snacks, inspiration, a goodie bag (yes!), giveaways (!!!), different lenses for you to try (OMG), and photo cheat sheets! After the lesson, we'll invite your family to join us so that you can practice your new skillz! We will have something set up for the kids to do which will allow you to photograph them while they're engaged in the activity! It's going to be so awesome!

You’ll benefit from a small workshop (Class size is limited to 12) and an experienced teacher. I’ve been a professional photographer for more than 20 years- I started young ;) and I’ve been teaching photography to both kids and adults for more than 10 years. I will also have an assistant at the workshop who can help answer questions.

When we’re done, you’ll leave with a new understanding of your digital camera and will have the skills and confidence to start taking true creative control over your photographs.

Sign up here :) Can't wait to see you!

Calligraphy with Maybelle

Woohoo- I loved last night's calligraphy class with Maybelle Imasa-Stukuls! I've been wanting to learn calligraphy for as long as I can remember! I've loved Maybelle's work since I saw it in Martha Stewart Weddings 10 years ago. Maybelle has taught a few workshops in San Francisco, but I was super thrilled that last night's class was at Twin Soul Art Studio in downtown Los Gatos, which is just a short drive away!

In a previous life, I did a lot of envelope addressing for my invitation clients (you can check out my handwriting here). I've always loved mail, handwriting, and vintage stamps, so calligraphy was always a natural next step. I have to admit I have never liked my cursive handwriting, so I was a bit reluctant to try calligraphy. I included "Take a calligraphy class" on my Life List (#8!!) as well as this year's Goals and Ideas list! Maybelle is one of my very favorite calligraphers so I feel super lucky that she's out-and-about teaching workshops! Using nibs under Maybelle's guidance was really fun and my handwriting wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! She even made us a personalized ink and pen holder! We got lots of practice paper, extra ink, and a sweet practice notebook. Here are a few photos from last night's class.

Camp Mighty Photos: Day Two

A week late, but that's ok, right? Here are some fine snaps from Day Two of the Camp Mighty festivities last week at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs.

Bing and Wantist gave us ALL gifts based on items on our life list! They were personal and so well done!! I got the new Smitten Kitchen cookbook along with sweet recipe cards from Yellow Owl Workshop. Thanks, Bing & Wantist! Amber Marlow received the nicest personalized stationery from Hello Lucky. She loved them and you can tell- look how big her smile is below!

The Ace Hotel doesn't mess around for meal times. They fed us well and I appreciated every piece of delicious food that I did not have to prepare, cook, or clean up. (Spending time and money on food & eating is a daily chore for me).

Jihan Zencirli of Geronimo Balloons gave out NED yo-yos (Never give up, Encourage Others, and Do your best) as a supplement to her awesome and inspiring story of how she's become The Balloon Girl.

We made super classy crafts with the Craft Pack girls- Alison (of the alison show) & Susan (of freshly picked). Bing supplied us with all the materials for us to make leather key chains, freezer paper stencil tote bags, and other crafty holiday surprises. I made a bag... check out my Instagram photo :)

Maggie, Margaret, and Laura lookin' lovely during lunch.

The Ace Hotel all decked out for our Space-themed party. I was going to wear a long silver dress but then this happened in my hotel room :(

Smilebooth was there- yay!!

Dancing makes everyone happy. Thanks to Anna Beth (AB Chao), Susan, and Laura for the great costumes and killer-jam moves.

Poor Pluto is not feeling mighty these days.
