While we were visiting Athens, GA, our sweet pal celebrated his 5th birthday! In honor of the occasion, his super rad mom arranged to have the birthday party at Fire Station #1. It was probably the best $10 she's ever spent because her son had an amazing time! We got the full tour of the station and a truck. The firefighter host even put on all of his gear piece-by-piece for all of the kids. After the tour, we ate cake and opened presents (the Super Hero Car was a big hit- see below!) in their kitchen. Double Dutch Press printed blank notebooks for one of the party favors using one of the birthday boy's fire truck drawings and how cute are the matchstick pretzels?!!
Photographing the Everyday :: Athens Workshop
We're heading to Athens, GA! And while we're there, I'll be leading a workshop at my favorite store, TREEHOUSE.kid&craft on Wednesday, February 13 at 7pm.
Spend the evening with me and you’ll learn how to take your camera off the automatic setting. We’ll cover lighting, composition, and getting those photos off your camera. You'll get in-depth look at digital photography so that you can begin taking photos you're excited to share! When we’re done, you’ll leave with a new understanding of your digital camera and will have the skills and confidence to start taking true creative control over your photographs.
You’ll benefit from a small workshop class size and an experienced teacher. I’ve been a professional photographer for almost 20 years and I’ve been teaching photography to kids and adults for over 10 years.

Store Report! Normal Variety, Athens GA
Hurry, hurry... get to Athens. My favorite store, Normal Variety is closing their doors. It was a good run, but they're moving on to bigger and better things.
Treehouse Kid & Craft
If you live within 3,000 miles of Athens, GA, I super encourage you to check out the coolest toy store ever: Treehouse Kid & Craft. It's full of really unique gifts and toys, along with awesome classes, party ideas, and sweet people! I was so pleasantly surprised that it wasn't like every other small, independent, and "hip" toystore! It's full of new and vintage things! Some are locally handmade while others are made specifically for the shop way out in Nepal! While I was there, I bought presents for my son's birthday (November!) and for Christmas as well! I also picked up a few lightweight items for the plane ride back to California: a Charlie Harper coloring book, a lion puppet from Nepal, two wooden people, a fox finger puppet from BlaBla, and two tiny clothespins (to develop those fine motor skills). In my attempt to share the awesomeness, here are a few cute pictures! Thank you, Kristen Bach for having such an amazing shop. It really adds life to the already vibrant Athens community.
