San Francisco Wedding Photographer :: Sandra & Jay

Sandra & Jay had a wonderful wedding at the tip top of San Francisco! It was elegant, classy, and calm. I couldn't believe how smooth and lovely the whole day was. Both Sandra & Jay were relaxed and so happy! They got ready at the Huntington Hotel, and then walked across the street together to Grace Cathedral where they tied the knot. After the wedding, the whole wedding was led by a bagpiper to the reception, one block away at The Pacific Union Club. I'm not allowed to post photos from the Pacific Union Club (it's like a super secret society thing), so here are a few from the Huntington and Grace Cathedral. If you want to see pics from the amazing Pacific Union Club reception, you'll have to contact me for a consultation ;)

Thank you to the lovely wedding professionals who made this wedding so elegant and lovely! I spent the day shooting with Lili Durkin

Group Photos that don't suck

I've gotten a few inquiries about group photos recently, so I thought I'd pull a few faves and share them with you. On my INFO page, there is a question/answer part:

Q:   DO YOU SHOOT THE FAMILY GROUP PHOTOS THAT WE NEED?
A:   Yes, of course!! I just don’t feature those on my site because you’ve seen them before. Email me and I'll be happy to send over a few samples. We take the necessary time to capture the formal family portraits that you desire, but please keep in mind that they take time. If your checklist of photos is long, that can add up to a lot of time taken away from the festivities. We will work together in advance to create your list of requested photos so that you get the shots you want while still having plenty of time to eat, drink, and be married!

I feel that shot lists can get excessive. My philosophy is get the basics/essentials and get on with the party. That said, here are a few favorites that aren't stiff & formal. Just because they're posed, doesn't mean that they have to look posed :)

Berkeley Wedding Photographer :: Elizabeth & Paul

Elizabeth and Paul were married at the absolutely stunning Faculty Club at the UC Berkeley campus and I loved every bit of it! There were so many sweet DIY ideas and Elizabeth and Paul were just cute as pie! They really transformed the Faculty Club space. The Craftsman building is really one-of-a-kind, with wooden beams, fireplaces, and stained glass. It was a real treat to photograph here! The space is such a gem secluded within the UC Berkeley campus. To lighten up the dining room, they used a wonderful mix of feminine flowers and branches and pinecones. It really made for a wonderful space that was the perfect combination of masculine and feminine.

Other fave touches from the wedding include the Groom's striped bow tie, woody-themed stamped tags for seating assignments, the stellar jams from DJ Jester (early rock 'n roll!!), the Bride's sister's reading from the Velveteen Rabbit really made me cry, bubbles, balloons, cupcakes, and a photobooth!! Hooray for Elizabeth and Paul!
