The Gordon Family

Last month I got to spend a few hours with the Gordon family!! Michelle contacted me awhile back to say that they haven't had pictures taken since their wedding way back when! They were long overdue for photos and I jumped at the chance! We read, shoveled rocks, ate a snack, and went on a walk! It was a beautiful day in San Francisco and I'm so glad I got to share it with the Gordon family! Here are a few favorites from our time together!

I book a limited number of family sessions each year. Let me know if you're interested by filling out the contact form. You can also email me directly if you'd like: kate@jetkatdesign.com.

Want To Be Our Neighbor?

A house in our sweet little neighborhood is on the market. Here's a note from a local real estate agent, "Rare find open atrium style Eichler home on a large corner lot situated on a great Willow Glen neighborhood. This model like home is very bright and has been tastefully upgraded while preserving the original touch. Updated open kitchen over looks the large backyard w/ BBQ set up great for entertaining. All bathrooms are remodeled. A bonus room great for study or a 5th bedroom."

I went to the open house and it needs a little cleaning and some love. But I can certainly see the potential! Only drawback is that it's not on a cul-de-sac like our place ;)

Here are a few photos I took at the open house.

More info can be found here

PS- Word on the street is that it's bank-owned, so that price is probably flexible ;)

A Shower for Baby Valentino

Woohoo! Hooray for friends having babies!!

I hosted a shower today for my super-pal, Jill. She's expecting her first baby (a boy) on Valentine's Day. I used that idea and made little chocolate cupcakes and decorated them with hearts and other cute and delicious things. I also bought a bunch of candy and chocolate and we all dined on the fine quiches that Jill's husband made!

I brought a bunch of onesies, baby pants, and baby shirts to decorate with fabric paint. I've seen this idea on other blogs. Originally I saw an idea on the Design Mom using bleach instead of fabric paint. And I also saw this on mer mag where they used freezer paper. We just moved and are renovating our house... therefore, we have a lot of painters tape lying around! Perfect and easy and makes for pleasantly straight lines on otherwise hard-to-manage fabric. I attached a few photos below... it was great to see that some ladies did it freehand and others used the tape. What do you think? What are your favorite non-cheesy activities for a baby shower?

Jill got cute little slippers (duck? chick?) and she decided that it'd be cute to put one on Prima's paw and it was cute! She left it on all afternoon :)

It was a wonderful afternoon full of lovely ladies and unexpected sunshine!

Next on my list of things to do in my spare time... my favorite things & ideas that have greatly contributed to my parenting career.

Married!! Lily & Dale

I'm thrilled to share a few of my favorite photos from the wedding I shot in Cambria, CA last month. Cambria is the cutest little town on the central coast of California, between Hearst Castle and San Luis Obispo. Lily and Dale got a permit to get married at a local park, right on Moonstone Beach. When they arrived to double check the location, they unfortunately discovered a homeless man had set up shop in 'their' spot. They peacefully let him be and set out to find a new perfect spot. The place they found couldn't have been more gorgeous. A little off the beaten path... ok, well, we had to step over the ropes to get there, but it was all worth it. It was the edge of the earth; skies were blue and the ocean was a perfect shade of turquoise. It was brilliant covered by trees and was a dream to shoot!

On Saturday afternoon Lily and I trekked out to the spot and waited for Dale. They had a sweet moment together and then we waited for their favorite 25 friends and family to join them under the trees. We all gathered around to listen to the personal ceremony, complete with sincere and amazing vows. They kissed and we all cried and cheered!

One of my favorite aspects of this wedding was that it was so laid back and casual. It was a small wedding with virtually zero posed photos. Seriously. The only posed photos we did were of the bride & groom while we waited for their guests to arrive at the ceremony and a few with their officiant. That's it... everything else is candid and it was so relaxing to shoot. The weather was perfect, the views were gorgeous, and dinner was delicious. There were no timelines, no flowers (lily made an awesome bouquet of paper butterflies), no cake (ice cream sandwiches from Bi-Rite Creamery in San Francisco... thank you, Elisha & dry ice!!), no djs (Lily and Dale made their own playlist), and no programs. Just a lot of love and sweet happiness. Oh, and some fun party ideas made the night hilarious: fake moustaches and candy cigarettes, double bubble gum, and pop rocks!

The reception was held in the garden behind Robin's Restaurant in downtown Cambria. One of their guests, Dave Potter, is THE dude at Municipal Winemakers, and he provided all the wine! At the end of the night, I was able to sample each of the 4 wines he brought... amazing!

If you're planning a wedding, may I offer some unsolicited advice? I suggest you follow your heart and have an amazing wedding; one where you get to spend as much time as possible with your honey-to-be and your dearest family and friends.

Congrats again, Lily and Dale... I couldn't be happier for you!
