Mulberry Maypole Celebration

We spent the morning celebrating the loveliness of the season and our little community at Mulberry Cottage. We fingerknit crowns from the wool we've been preparing for months and used flowers from the garden along with ribbon and greenery.

It's such a lovely way to bring in the warm season. My son and I really enjoyed the morning celebration and continued the fun with an afternoon full of singing, golf, and (him) running naked through the neighbor's sprinklers. It doesn't get better than this. Definitely counting my many blessings today and every day.

Here are a few photos from today and more can be seen on my Flickr page.

New Garden

Over the weekend, my husband and I embarked on a juice cleanse (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). At times it was harder than I thought and other times it was super awesome!!! I am glad that we've done it. Mostly I was surprised at how time consuming it was to make all the juice for both of us. It was about 180 oz per day (90oz per person). My cravings were all sweets, which came as little surprise to me. But I am realizing that my sweet tooth does need some taming once this cleanse is over. I'm eager to learn more about nutrition and being kind to my body. I found Juicing Book to be an amazing resource (don't mind the outdated look of the site). I want to learn more about the veg/fruits that work together and those that don't work together... usually I just throw stuff in a juicer! Lots to learn, I guess.

One thing that was great was all the time we spent at home! No running around doing errands or playing. It was so nice to be home. Chris and I both got a lot done! I got a lot of photography done, 11/12ths of my taxes, and planted a little vegetable garden. I can't wait until I can juice my new veggies and greens. I planted bell peppers, chard, kale, and watercress. It took the dog about an hour to run through the planter bed, jumbling up half my plants! Ugh!!! Any thoughts on how to keep her out??? Luckily, I was able to take a few photos before she ran through.

Kid Pics

I'm lucky. There are many reasons why I feel like one of the luckiest gals around. The two main reasons are my two main guys... my husband Chris and our sweet little son. Not only are they both kind, sweet, funny, and charming, they're both crazy handsome and I love to take their picture! When our son was born, I decided I wanted to take a photo every day of our boy! I was pretty good the first year, and not super great the year after that. One of my resolutions this year was to get back into it! I've been doing pretty well... not perfect, but I'm ok with that! After approximately 1200 days (3 years & 4 months), we have a great little library of 708 photos. I just uploaded a new batch of photos from the past few weeks. Here's a link to the Flickr site and below is one of my favorites from the new round of pics.

Overall, I think it's been a great way to document his first few years. We haven't kept a baby book, so this is kind of our thing. Well, we do have a Twitter account for the silly things he says. How are you chronicling your days with your kids?

Juice Cleanse

Ok, party people. I've decided that we need to do some major juicing in our lives and we're joining Lacy in her juice cleanse this weekend. Here's a picture of all the goodies I snagged at the farmers' market yesterday in Daly City! Quail eggs and Afghani food will be consumed after the cleanse ;)

We've added a lot of other fruits and veggies than Lacy's recipes calls for. They're on her site, but I can't link to that post :(

In our green we're using kale, spinach, sunflower sprouts, cucumber, apple, pear, celery, ginger, and maybe other stuff, too. What do you love in your green juice?

If you're wondering why I'm doing a 3 day cleanse, it's simple: to detox my body. We already eat pretty well, but we're having trouble staying pregnant. After 4 unsuccessful pregnancies in less than 2 years, I'm ready to get down to business... spend a few quiet days drinking juice, reading, relaxing, drinking more juice, and hanging out with my son. Luckily, my husband is along for the ride!

This morning I met some awesome mom friends at the park and they brought some picnic food from the local market. I was fine with seeing them eat all that delicious food until they busted out chocolate. I'm pretty sure my mouth started watering and I'm not usually a chocolate person! That makes me a little nervous because it's only day 1.

Have you ever done a juice cleanse?? Or another kind of detox diet? Which one did you choose? Or did you create your own?

Update... it's afternoon on day 1... feeling pretty good. A little hungry, but not nearly as hungry as I thought I'd be! The juices we've been making have been have been awesome!
